Part of the appeal of biking Seabrook is that the ride passes through maritime forest, marshes, lagoons, residential areas, and coastline.
That creates opportunities to see wildlife without scheduling a dedicated wildlife tour.
Deer and Birds
Seabrook’s nature-trail information notes deer and a variety of songbirds around wooded portions of the island.
Ride quietly and observe animals from a distance.
Dolphins
North Beach and the Captain Sam’s Inlet area are known for dolphin activity, including the unusual strand-feeding behavior seen around this part of the Lowcountry.
Seabrook asks visitors not to approach, touch, swim with, or feed dolphins.
Alligators
Lagoons are wildlife habitat. Seabrook’s biking guidance specifically reminds visitors that alligators live on the island and that children and pets should remain away from water edges.
Don’t Chase the Photograph
If you encounter wildlife while biking, stop only where it is safe, maintain distance, and do not block the route.
The goal is to observe the island without disturbing the animals that live there.
